Original Medicare
Original Medicare, also known as Medicare Parts A and B, covers inpatient and outpatient costs. Part A serves as hospital insurance and covers inpatient care, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and home health care. Part B serves as medical insurance and covers outpatient care, services from doctors and other healthcare providers, home health care, durable medical equipment, and preventive services.
Medicare Supplements
Medicare Supplements, often referred to as Medigap, can cover hidden expenses to significantly lower or eliminate your out-of-pocket costs that are left behind from Original Medicare. While Supplement Plans can only be used with Original Medicare, the ten standardized plans can cover various costs, including coinsurance, copayments, deductibles, excess charges, and foreign travel emergency care.
